Gold prices remain above $3,300, geopolitical risks and U.S. debt problems intensify

The price of gold rose by more than 0.50% and remained above $3,300 as traders felt increasingly nervous about the U.S. tax bill vote, while the situation in the Middle East escalated. Gold/USD was traded at $3307, before hitting a daily low of $3285.
State sentiment remains sluggish, with major U.S. stock indexes falling while U.S. Treasury yields rise. Market participants are awaiting the approval of President Trump’s tax cut bill, which will increase U.S. Treasury bonds by nearly $3.8 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
The approval of the bill could support U.S. stock markets higher. However, the dollar's reaction is uncertain as Moody's downgrades the U.S. government debt rating last Friday, triggering a dollar sell-off, as shown by the U.S. dollar index (DXY).
The US dollar index (DXY) tracks the performance of the dollar against the other six currencies, down 0.52% to 99.49, providing support for gold prices.
Tenuous situation in the Middle East has driven gold prices, although tensions between China and the United States have eased as Beijing and Washington significantly lowered tariffs for 90 days to start negotiations to reach a trade deal.
This week, traders will focus on the Fed’s speech, the fast purchasing managers’ index, housing data and the number of initial jobless claims.
XAU/USD Technical Outlook: Gold is expected to test $3,350, and bulls gather strength
The price rebound has been for the third consecutive day, and the price trend shows continuous highs and lows, and buyers pay attention to key resistance levels. The momentum depicted by the Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicates that the uptrend will continue before the RSI enters the overbought zone, whichMay lead to future pauses.
Therefore, the first resistance level for gold will be the psychological mark of $3350. Once the breakthrough is made, the next target will be $3400, followed by the day-high $3438 on May 7, and then the test all-time high (ATH) $3500.
For bearish reversals, gold shorts must drag the spot price below $3,300. Once broken, the immediate support level appears at the daily low of $3,204 on May 20, followed by the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) $3,184.
