On Tuesday, the pound rose slightly against the dollar, but was restricted by rising U.S. Treasury yields, and news about the UK-EU trade deal boosted the pound's prospects. However, the Federal Reserve's hawkish stance failed to reach 1.3400, and was traded at 1.3371 at press time.

News on the UK's agreement to "reset" relationship with the euro zone (EU) supports the pound. In addition, BoE chief economist Huw Pill made hawkish remarks, saying that “the dissenting vote stems from concerns about the speed of withdrawal of monetary policy restrictions since last summer – a quarterly rate cut of 25 basis points – which is too fast considering the stable risk balance of prices.” Market participants expect the Bank of England to keep interest rates at 4.25% at their June meeting, although they have priced a 41 basis point cut by the end of the year.
Over the ocean, the U.S. Congress continues to discuss the passage of the Trump tax bill, which is currently passed by the House Budget zeizao.cnmittee. Reuters reported that "non-partisan analysts said the bill would increase the country's $36.2 trillion debt by $3 trillion to $5 trillion in the next decade."
At the same time, the US dollar continued to recover after Moody's downgraded the U.S. government debt rating from AAA to AA1, which Moody's expressed concerns about, believing that the budget deficit needs to be reduced.

GBP/USD Price Forecast: Technical Outlook
While the Relative Strength Index (RSI) shows bullish signals, GBP/USD suspends its uptrend. RSI is biased towards buyers, but they have to break through the 1.3400 level to challenge the year-to-date (YTD) high of 1.3443, followed by a target of 1.3500.
In contrast, if GBP/USD falls below 1.3350, the first support level will be 1.3300. Once the breakthrough is made, the next target is 1.3250, 1.3200, and the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) 1.3122.
